Watermain Flushing

The Town of Tillsonburg is continuing its spring water system maintenance program.

April 13- June 30
Directional flushing of watermains in all areas south of North Street and east of Tillson Avenue/Vienna Road.

Flushing will begin each morning at 8:00 a.m. and conclude by 3:00 p.m. Residents may notice some cloudy or discoloured water when watermain flushing occurs. These temporary side effects are not hazardous to the public and can be resolved by turning on the cold water taps to clear the system. If discolouring continues beyond a three-day period, please contact Customer Service at 519.688.3009.

 

Large Item Collection

Have you heard? Oxford County is introducing an annual large item collection program in Tillsonburg. The town has been divided into three collection zones. See www.tillsonburg.ca/items to see when collection is happening in your area.

Zone 1 - Begins June 19
Zone 2 - Begins June 26
Zone 3 - Begins July 3

Only items that weigh less than 45 kg (100 lbs) will be collected.

Additional restrictions include:

  • no items that are eligible for a County recycling program
  • no glass, mirror or automotive parts
  • no items that can be broken down to fit into a garbage bag
  • no loose items on wagons, trailers or in boxes (including large number of smaller item

Non-eligible material will be left behind, and the homeowner will be responsible for removing it.

Please ensure your materials are set out by 7 a.m. the Monday of your collection week. Late materials will not be collected.

 

New User Fees at Transfer Station

Starting June 1, the County of Oxford will begin charging the following fees for solid waste at the Tillsonburg Transfer Station (50 Newell Road). Note that yard waste and recyclable materials will remain free.

Help us Pick a Playground

Council has approved new playground equipment to be installed in the park behind the Tillsonburg library (2 Library Lane), but we need your help to choose a winning playground design.

Visit www.tillsonburg.ca/playground to see two potential designs--then be sure to vote for your favourite in our online survey.

All responses must be received by midnight on Saturday, May 27.

 

Property Tax Due Date

Attention all property owners in the Town of Tillsonburg. The next 2023 Interim Property Tax payment is due: Thursday, May 25, 2023

Payments can be made in a variety of ways including:

  • eConnection
  • Financial Institution
  • Pre-authorized payment plan
  • Mail
  • Drop box (10 Lisgar Avenue)
  • In-person (10 Lisgar Avenue)

Animal Control By-Law

All residents are reminded that the Town’s Animal Control By-Law 2021-013 provides for the licensing, regulation, and control of animals within the Town of Tillsonburg.

Chickens are prohibited under Schedule A of the Animal Control By-law 2021-013.

Dog owners also have responsibilities under the By-Law. Dogs must be kept leashed unless on your own private property or inside the dog park. Failing to keep a pet from running at large can result in fines exceeding $200. Learn more at www.tillsonburg.ca/petowners

 

Youth Social Space Opens

High school students and youth between the ages of 15-18 are welcome to come to the Tillsonburg Library to attend VIBE--a FREE social space for youth created by youth. 
When: Thursdays until June 29

VIBE offers free food and giveaways every week, plus fun activities and lots of casual hang out time. Show up as your authentic self, without fear of judgement.

Bike Rodeo

Calling all young cyclists! The Town of Tillsonburg, in partnership with Oxford OPP, is hosting a FREE bike rodeo. Choose from the full rodeo experience (ages 5+) or the mini-rodeo (under 5).
