Flags at all Town of Tillsonburg properties are lowered to half-mast for one week in honour of those affected by the tragic wildfire emergency at the Canadian Forces Base Wainwright in Alberta.

The Town of Tillsonburg is pleased to share that the Ontario Energy Board (OEB) has approved the merger of Tillsonburg Hydro Inc. with ERTH Corporation, marking a significant milestone in the future of local electricity distribution services.

Residents are advised that Oxford County will be undertaking the Old Vienna Road Trunk Inlet Sanitary Sewer Replacement Project in Tillsonburg, with construction scheduled to begin October 19, 2026, and continue through mid-December 2026. The project will require the closure of Old Vienna Road and the sidewalk between Van Street and Vienna Road for the duration of construction. Detour routes will be in place to help motorists navigate the area safely. Residents are encouraged to visit the Oxford County project webpage for details about the project scope, anticipated impacts, traffic arrangements, and construction updates.

Town of Tillsonburg, Township of Blandford-Blenheim, Township of Zorra, Township of South-West Oxford, Township of East Zorra-Tavistock. The participating municipalities are reminding residents to get ready for the 2026 Municipal Election, which will take place from October 13 to October 26, 2026, using secure internet and telephone voting. Eligible electors will be able to vote from anywhere using their own computer, tablet, smartphone, or telephone. The voting system will be available 24 hours a day throughout the voting period, providing residents with a convenient and accessible way to cast their ballot. Whether you're at home, at work, or travelling, you'll be able to securely cast your ballot during the voting period. Voting closes at 8:00 p.m. on Monday, October 26, 2026.

Routine asphalt crack sealing work is scheduled for October 16 and 19 on Allen, Belmont, Myrtle, Peach, Pine, and William Streets, Lyndale Road, Harvest Avenue, and Brookside Lane. Residents are asked to avoid on-street parking in these areas while work is underway.

The Town’s annual Loose Leaf Collection Program begins Tuesday, October 13 and runs through Friday, November 27. Leaves will be collected using the Town’s leaf vacuum machine, with crews working throughout the community on an ongoing basis. There are no scheduled collection zones, so residents are encouraged to place leaves at the curb and leave them out until they are collected. Please note that heavy snowfall and prolonged freezing temperatures may delay, suspend or end the program earlier than planned. As a reminder, leaves, brush and other yard waste can also be dropped off at the Transfer Station, 50 Newell Rd. throughout the season.

In recognition of National Day for Truth and Reconciliation on Wednesday, September 30, the Every Child Matters flag will be flown at the Tillson Family Parkette, and all Town flags will be lowered to half-mast. Flags will be returned to full mast on Thursday, October 1. In addition, the Rotary Clock Tower will be illuminated orange from Tuesday, September 29 through Thursday, October 1.

In recognition of British Home Child Day, the Rotary Clock Tower will be illuminated yellow from Friday, September 25, 2026, through Monday, September 28, 2026.  

The Town of Tillsonburg wishes to advise residents that invasive plant control treatments will be taking place at two local wetland areas as part of an ongoing environmental restoration project.
